Java Tutoring and Wii Gaming Nights

So I had an eventful day. Not only did I advance ahead to Access in my Microcomputer Applications class so I could grok databases better, but I also helped the person I tutor on hit Java homework. The progress was a little slow, but I'm also focusing on getting him into good coding habits and practice/memory. I recommended he see the teacher for further help on projects, and that he take notes and ask questions whenever he can. I want to see him succeed!

Of course, that's not all. I also had some fun with Wii Gaming Nights! I signed up for a $50 Wal-Mart giftcard, won a shirt, and even got some snacks to take home. Truly tonight was a great night. Midterms are coming up, so having an event to blow off some steam is nice.

Oh, and I let them film me playing Just Dance on the Wii to go up on our school library's Facebook page. :D

ASP.NET and MS SQL

So a recently acquired internship has given me a skills assessment (doubles as an actual job). It is database oriented and uses the .NET framework. I've got most of the tools, and just finished downloading SQL Management Studio 64 Bit to install. My boss wants it for tomorrow, so I'm trying to see what I can do to give it a shot so he can accurately place me into a current project.

I'm gonna be just a little bit busy for a while. I think that's alright. I'm restarting my other, slightly more powerful machine here with Windows on it right now, as I guess they want me to after a scan of stuff I need to do.

I swear that I'm going to try to update this at least once a week.

So I know that I have a practically nonexistent audience right now, but I don't care. Part of my problem is that I never update this! So yeah. Let's fix that.

I've been keeping busy. I really like my classes. They're going really well. I've signed up for Phi Beta Lambda, and hope to have great fun with that. I may be finding work here (beyond tutoring). I turn 25 in a few hours. I write short sentences about things. Seriously though. I would say more, but I think keeping it short and simple is fine for now.

This is probably going to be about all I talk about for now. I just wanted to blow the dust off this again. This time, there's a little less, I think. ;)

Also, I just noticed the "Labels: " box. Maybe I'll utilize that more in the future.

Edit: I added the blog to my favorites in Chrome, under the "Social Media" folder. I also set my machine to not track my own pageviews. ^_^

Long Overdue Update

I really should neglect this less.

I mean, it's been an entire semester since I last posted an update! Class starts this Monday!

I will be keeping very busy this semester, but I'm feeling a bit more ready than I have in a while. Once I finish this semester I'll just have two more classes to take. One will be in the fall, and the other will be next spring. Heck, the class next spring isn't even technically a class, but rather an internship.

Back to Class

Dang, has it already been two months? This poor thing got neglected! *blows off cobwebs*

So I think it's time for at least some kind of update, what do you think?

As the title suggest, I am going back to classes this semester. I am currently enrolled in Web Design (which is cool, as I'll be able to do more with the html of my blog over time probaby), Security+ (All about protecting data and such), Advanced C++ (Heck yeah!), and Fundamentals of Computer hardware. I have to admit, while I can learn things independently, it is nice to have the structure of a class to work around.

So yeah. I may add more later, but I just wanted to dust this off and say that as I think it will make me more inclined to come back to it and just not abandon it forever.

BIG Changes, Part Two

So more has happened around the house. We've actually pulled the bushes we were trimming out of the ground, and converted the satellite dish into a solar light post. Now we've just got to remove some trees from the back yard, although I guess we're getting in a professional tree service to take care of that.

BIG Changes Around The House

So some pretty big changes have been happening around my house this past week.

The first thing we've done is cut out a series of bushes from the front of our house. They've been there since we've moved in, and that's back in the summer before I was in 2nd grade! Among the needles of the fallen are various items, including broken roof shingles and old plastic bags that got caught up in the branches and needles. The only thing left to do is to remove the stumps.

The second thing that's happened is the removal of a VERY old satellite dish. This thing is quite large, unlike the satellite dishes of today. So far we've taken out the panels that compose the dish part and cut the antenna's cables out. Actually the Antenna is part of the reason we've stopped. It turns out that there's a huge wasp's nest in the housing of the antenna, and that once we removed it we really disturbed them. The other part of the reason that we've stopped is that my dad has to go to work today.

That's about it as far as updates go. My dad took a few pictures of the dish as we were working on it, and if he uploads them like I think he's going to, I'll make sure you guys get to see them.
